Browns announce Josh McCown (collarbone) done for the season
Cleveland Browns' quarterback Josh McCown has been diagnosed with a broken right collarbone and is done for the season.
The 36-year-old quarterback does not need surgery, but the timetable will extend beyond the season. It's an unfortunate ending to what had been a surprisingly good year for the veteran. Browns' coach Mike Pettine has yet to decide if he'll start Austin Davis or Johnny Manziel. With the team seemingly itching to move on from Manziel, it would be no surprise if Davis got the start in Week 13. Due $4.375 million, McCown will likely be back with the team in 2016.
Among the 40 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs in 2015, McCown's 0.10 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back ranked 21st. Manziel is 29th in this metric with a 0.03 Passing NEP per drop back. Davis had a 0.27 Passing NEP per play on 11 drop backs in Week 12.
