Tom Savage expected to sign with San Francisco next week
Free agent quarterback Tom Savage is expected to sign with the San Francisco 49ers, possibly next week per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The Niners are expected to head into their meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers with C.J. Beathard as their starter and practice squader Nick Mullens as his backup. They need roster spots at other positions so they won't sign Savage until after Week 4. The quarterback was most recently with the New Orleans Saints before being cut in training camp. He will bring veteran leadership to the QB room in San Francisco.
Savage posted a 56.1% completion percentage, 2.2% touchdown rate, and 2.7% interception rate in 223 pass attempts with the Houston Texans last season.
