Marquise Brown to Baltimore: What Can He Add to the Ravens' Offense?

With the 25th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens took a chance on an undersized receiver in Marquise Brown.

While Brown has some obstacles to overcome, there is a good chance that he steps in as the top wide receiver within the Ravens' wide receiver corps and sees legitimate opportunity as a result.

Brown's Background

Coming from the JUCO ranks, Brown produced like an alpha receiver the minute he stepped on campus at Oklahoma.

In his two seasons in Norman, Brown produced yardage totals of 1,095 and 1,318 in a prolific passing offense. Brown also has the capability to produce down the field, and he led the nation in plays of 40+, 50+, and 60+ yards.

Overall, when adjusting for team context and not just looking at raw numbers, Brown's dominator rating puts him in the 39th percentile among receivers, so that is a bit of a red flag.

Brown's size remains a concern, as well. Standing at 5'9" and weighing 166 pounds, Brown missed out on wowing at the NFL combine due to a Lisfranc injury. However, Brown's athleticism at full health remains unquestioned, with the potential to possibly break the 40-yard dash record had he been healthy.

What to Expect

Ultimately, Brown comes with his fair share of questions stemming from his size, health, and production when not tied to an elite passer.

Still, his game-breaking speed should improve the Ravens' offense as a whole in Lamar Jackson's second season under center. While the Ravens remain predicated on the run, Brown's big-play ability should keep him somewhat fantasy viable in 2019.

numberFire's editor-in-chief, JJ Zachariason, initially projects Brown for 80.0 targets, 48.0 receptions, 643.5 yards, and 3.4 touchdowns as a rookie.
