Week 3 NFL Advanced Analytics Superstars

In a Week 3 headlined by global attention, protests, and wild finishes, the on-field action was all about the quarterbacks. The headliners being, of course, Case Keenum, Jared Goff, and Blake Bortles -- just like we all predicted! It was a week in which much of what we thought we knew was turned on its head, and that was clearly reflected in our NEP superstars.

Each week, we'll take a look at offensive players at each position who helped put their team in the best position to win. This takes us beyond just the box score and dives into the impact of each player on their team's success.

To do this, we'll look at our signature metric, Net Expected Points (NEP), which quantifies the number of points a player adds to his team versus how he's expected to perform. When a player rushes for 5 yards on a 3rd-and-3 and keeps the drive -- and potential for scoring points -- alive, he'll add more to his team's expected point total than when a player rushes for 5 yards on a 3rd-and-9 and forces his team to punt. You can learn more about NEP in our glossary.
