With Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season upon us, it's not surprising that everyone wants their fantasy football teams to start the year off with a win. Behind a big performance, team defenses can go a long way in tipping the scales in your favor.

If you're reading this article, presumably you were not one of the first in your league to draft a defense, instead opting to grab one late. Smart move. Streaming defenses has become a popular strategy for many players, and for good reason. Even a poor defense in a great matchup can present more upside and help you win a particular week, whereas a better defense may have a tougher matchup and struggle to put up fantasy points.

We'll be combing through the waiver wire every week of the season to identify low-owned teams set up with a great matchup to give you an edge. The focus will be on teams owned in about 50% of less in both ESPN and Yahoo platforms. Our goal is to identify teams poised to finish as a top-12 scorer for that given week.
