While the San Diego Chargers were busy imploding again in the fourth quarter, receiver Dontrelle Inman was doing his best Keenan Allen impersonation, grabbing 7 balls (on 11 targets) for 120 yards and a touchdown in a breakout performance. All led the team, albeit against an inept New Orleans Saints defense.

Inman has seen his targets increase each week as the team has struggled to find a consistent weapon to replace the injured Allen. The team has rotated from Travis Benjamin to Tyrell Williams and now to Inman, but the latter might be the most ready to contribute consistent production for Philip Rivers.

Benjamin profiles more as a deep threat and screen specialist, which is the role he worked while with the Cleveland Browns, and Williams is an exceptionally raw (but talented) sophomore receiver out of Western Oregon. Inman, meanwhile, is in his third year as a Charger and had 486 yards last season while gaining a rapport with Rivers. He is a big target with the ability to work the shorter and intermediate areas of the field that Allen worked while being a target hog in this high-volume passing attack.

With Danny Woodhead and Allen out for the season, Malcom Floyd retired, and Steve Johnson no longer with the team, there are 328 vacated targets to fill in this offense. Yes, the Saints are not a good defense, but don't discount Inman's ability to be productive if his role continues to grow in this offense moving forward.
