Ryan Anderson

Suns reportedly get Ryan Anderson, De'Anthony Melton from Rockets for Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss

The Phoenix Suns acquired forward/center Ryan Anderson and point guard De'Anthony Melton to the Houston Rockets in exchange for point guard Brandon Knight and power forward Marquese Chriss, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

What It Means:

Anderson will start for the Suns, per Woj, which is a bit surprising for a 30-year-old shooter on a rebuilding team. Melton, a 2018 second-rounder, could compete for the starting point guard gig, although Woj adds that Phoenix"will continue to pursue trade scenarios to bring on a starting-caliber point guard" before the season starts. Knight and Chriss are unlikely to make much noise in Houston.

Anderson averaged 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 3-pointers over 26.2 minutes in 66 games for the Rockets last season.
