Carmelo Anthony verbally agrees to sign with Houston
Free agent forward Carmelo Anthony has verbally agreed to sign with the Houston Rockets, according to sources of Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.
No surprise here as the move has been expected since the Oklahoma City Thunder parted ways. Anthony cleared waivers last week after reaching a buyout from the Atlanta Hawks but was in Africa with the NBA Players Association until Tuesday. Anthony will likely start at small forward after the departure of Trevor Ariza through free agency this summer.
Anthony put up career-worst scoring numbers last season as he averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 40.4% from the field and 35.7% from three.
