Thunder reportedly acquire Dennis Schroder from Hawks for Melo
The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired point guard Dennis Schroder from the Atlanta Hawks in a deal centering around Carmelo Anthony's contract, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
It's a win-win for both sides, as the Hawks had reportedly been struggling to move Schroder for weeks and the Thunder were committed to dumping Anthony's contract. He obviously won't see nearly as much opportunity in Oklahoma City playing behind Russell Westbrook but Schroder's best years should theoretically be ahead of him, as next season will be only his age-25 campaign. Jeremy Lin and Trae Young will likely split most of the Hawks' point guard minutes next season.
Schroder averaged 33.3 FanDuel points with 19.4 points, 6.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 3-pointers in 67 games for the Hawks last season.
