Minnesota names Zach LaVine starting shooting guard
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine will begin the 2015-'16 season as the Timberwolves' starting shooting guard, Timberwolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell stated on Tuesday.
That means that Kevin Martin will come off the bench as the team's sixth man, but he should still get enough minutes in that role to contribute to teams in standard leagues. LaVine certainly sees a boost in value with the promotion to the starting unit, and it'll be interesting to see what he can do during his sophomore season.
LaVine averaged 13.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.1 three-pointers per game through 40 starts last season, although those numbers came sans Martin and Ricky Rubio.
