Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki hints at playing two more seasons

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki implied that he plans on playing for two more seasons.

What It Means:

"Obviously it gets closer, but it's not like I'm thinking about the beach every day," Nowitzki, 37, said of his potential retirement. "I want to play two more years under contract here, hopefully at a high level, compete, hopefully be efficient when I'm out there. And then retirement obviously comes soon enough." Nowitzki's playing time could drop to around 26 minutes per game this season, which effects his fantasy value.

When he does hang 'em up, Nowitzki will retire as not only one of the best shooting big men of all time, but one of the game's best shooters regardless of position. A 7-footer, Nowitzki has attempted 4,117 3-pointers in his career and his 38 percent of them. He's also a career 87 percent free throw shooter, posting three seasons with a clip over 90 percent. He averaged 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game a year ago.
