Dirk Nowitzki and Mavs finalizing two-year deal
The Dallas Mavericks are in the process of finalizing a two-year, $10 million deal with forward Dirk Nowitzki, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com.
Despite turning 39 recently, Nowitzki is hoping to play two more seasons in the NBA. By signing a contract for only $5 million per season, the 19-year veteran is giving the Mavs a discount to help free up cap space to re-sign Nerlens Noel.
Despite a slow start to the season, Nowitzki was able to average 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 three-pointers per game while posting a -0.9 nERD rating, ranking 295th out of 486 NBA players in 2016-17.
