Chicago's Michael Carter-Williams to become free agent

The Chicago Bulls will not extend a qualifying offer to guard Michael-Carter Williams, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

What It Means:

Carter-Williams would have demanded a very reasonable $4.2 million qualifying offer, but with the Bulls' recent acquisition of Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine, there's no longer room in the Chicago backcourt. After just one season in Chicago, it appears that the 25-year-old will be playing for his fourth franchise in five years in the league.

Carter-Williams averaged 6.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 18.8 minutes per game in 2016-17. His -3.3 nERD placed him dead last among all Bulls players.
