Aron Baynes declines his Pistons player option

Detroit Pistons center Aron Baynes has declined his $6.5 million player option for the 2017-18 season and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

What It Means:

Baynes didn't have much impact playing behind Andre Drummond this past season, but with the higher salary cap he should get more guaranteed money than $6.5 million from another team. The good news is this will likely open up more minutes for Boban Marjanovic behind Drummond.

Baynes averaged 4.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 15.5 minutes this past season. He posted a .570 true shooting percentage and his nERD of 1.1 ranked him 103rd in the league.
