Warriors' Kevin Durant to decline player option, willing to take pay cut
Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant will decline his 2017-18 player option in order to allow Golden State more room to negotiate with Andre Iguodala.
Durant turns down a $28 million option for the upcoming season. Reports suggest he's willing to take up to a $4 million pay cut to give the Warriors a better chance of re-signing Iguodala, who is an unrestricted free agent this summer.
In Golden State's run to the title, Durant led the Warriors with a player efficiency rating of 27.5 in 15 playoff games. And with 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, Durant was more than worthy of Finals MVP honors.
