76ers' Joel Embiid (knee) done for the season
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
His meniscus tear "appears more pronounced in this most recent scan" according to the 76ers' Chief Medical Director Jonathan Glashow, and so the team will shut him down for the year. There's no incentive for the Sixers to rush back their budding superstar while they are out of the playoff hunt, but this news comes as a major disappointment.
Embiid averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.5 blocks, 0.9 steals and 1.2 3-pointers in only 25.4 minutes per game in the 31 contests he played in his rookie year. His 0.8 nERD is good for 106th among 466 players and ranks second on the Sixers.
