Cavs' LeBron James out but Kyrie Irving is in versus Detroit
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James (rest) will not play on Monday versus the Detroit Pistons, but Kyrie Irving will be in the starting lineup.
No surprise here, as the Cavs are playing the second half of a back-to-back and are looking to limit James' minutes for the playoffs. Kyrie was expected to sit as well, but coach Tyronn Lue decided to have his point guard out there on Monday. No word if Irving will be on a minutes restriction. Richard Jefferson enters the starting lineup in Lebron's place.
Our models project Irving to play 34.5 minutes versus Detroit but may be limited to under 30 after playing 44 minutes on Christmas.
