Pistons' Reggie Jackson receives injections for thumb, knee

Detroit Pistons guard Reggie Jackson (thumb, knee) had a platelet-rich plasma injection for his right thumb along with having a knee injection on Monday.

What It Means:

After originally facing a 4-6 week timeline, the injection for Jackson's knee tendinitis -- along with the UCL sprain in his thumb -- are now expected to sideline him for 6-8 weeks. The 26-year-old guard is looking at anywhere between 14 and 22 games on the bench, opening up big minutes and usage for Ish Smith in the first unit. It's worth noting that Jackson was bothered by his thumb last season as well.

Jackson earned a 3.2 nERD (49th in the NBA) on his way to a breakout season in Detroit during last season's 2015-2016 campaign. In his first full year running the show, Jackson averaged 18.8 points, 3.2 boards, 6.2 assists and 1.5 3-pointers per game. His .535 true shooting percentage was the best clip of his career.
