Kevin Garnett

Garnett and Towns to start together in Minnesota?

Flip Saunders confirmed in a recent interview Kevin Garnett would start at power forward this upcoming season. Saunders also said Towns could start at center with Nikola Pekovic still out due to an Achilles injury.

What It Means:

Garnett and Towns would present a formidable frontcourt to opposing teams. Garnett would be able to mentor Towns.

The Timberwolves ranked last in the NBA in Defensive Efficiency last season, but both Garnett and Towns are impactful presences on the defensive end. Garnett ranked fifth on the Nets in Defensive Win Shares last season (1.4) despite playing in only 42 games with the team. Towns ranked second on Kentucky last season with 2.9 Defensive Win Shares. Both players will change the culture on the defensive end for the Timberwolves.
