C.J. McCollum gets max contract extension from Blazers

The Portland Trailblazers have agreed to a contract extension with guard C.J. McCollum for four-years and $106M according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

What It Means:

The Blazers unexplainably gave Allen Crabbe $18 million per season over the next four years, but McCollum, by far the better player, warranted this big extension after a stellar 2015-'16 season. He earned him the Most Improved Player Award last season and averaged over 20 points per game in 11 playoff games. He will be locked into the starting two guard slot for at least the next four to five years alongside Damian Lillard.

McCollum earned a 0.6 nERD this regular season, which ranked 74th in the league. He averaged 20.8 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game, all of which were easily career highs. He also posted an effective field goal percentage of .517 and shot 41.7 percent from deep in 2015-'16.
