Thunder could look to deal Russell Westbrook
Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti may look to trade point guard Russell Westbrook "sooner rather than later," according to sources of Howard Beck of Bleacher Report.
This would contradict what Adrian Wojnarowski reported last week, but after losing Kevin Durant in free agency, the Thunder can't afford to let another superstar walk without receiving some sort of compensation. If Presti senses that Westbrook is headed for greener pastures next offseason, then the general manager's track record suggests he will be actively shopping the dynamic point guard. Beck also noted that the Celtics are the most likely destination in the result of a potential trade, as they possess the most assets and Oklahoma City will likely demand the equivalent of a small island in return for Westbrook.
Westbrook finished the regular season ranked fifth in the NBA with a 14.7 nERD and career-high 49.6 percent assist rate. He averaged 26.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and paced the competition with 11.0 assists per game in the postseason.
