Grizzlies decline team option on Lance Stephenson

Memphis Grizzlies guard/forward have declined Lance Stephenson's $9.4 million team option.

What It Means:

He began last season with the Los Angeles Clippers before being traded ahead of the deadline. Stephenson will likely receive a good amount of interest on the open market after closing the year strong with the Grizzlies.

Due to numerous injuries to Memphis this past year, Stephenson put up averages of 14.2 points, 4.4 boards, 2.8 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 treys in his final 26 regular season contests. Stephenson led the league in triple-doubles back in 2013-14, but he will likely just be a role player next year. He ranked 94th in the league with a -1.4 nERD last season.
