Hawks' Al Horford being pursued by Magic, Lakers and Pistons
Atlanta Hawks forward/center Al Horford will reportedly be sought after by the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
There will certainly be more suitors for Horford as he is expected to be in high demand once free agency kicks into gear. However, these three teams seem like peculiar fits. With Marcus Morris, Tobias Harris and Andre Drummond already on the roster in Detroit, things would be crowded in the frontcourt. Conversely, considering where he is at in his career (30, nine years under his belt), it would also be surprising to see Horford commit to a rebuild in either Orlando or Los Angeles.
Horford averaged 15.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 3-pointers per game on a 54.7 Effective Field Goal Percentage last season. He shot 88-of-256 (34.4 percent) from long range after taking a total of 65 3-point attempts in his previous eight seasons combined. Horford managed to play all 82 games for the first time in his career, but his 12.4 Total Rebound Percentage was a career-low mark. He ranked 16th in the NBA with an 8.4 nERD.
