David West declining his '16-17 player option with Spurs

Power forward David West will decline his player option for the 2016-17 season with the San Antonio Spurs.

What It Means:

West took a huge pay cut last season when he decided not to exercise his $12.6 million option with the Indiana Pacers in order to sign with the Spurs for just $1.5 million. This time around, West is likely to command more money heading into his age-36 season. He'll probably look to sign with a contending team again.

West was solid in his first season in San Antonio, posting a 5.3 nERD, which ranked 33rd, in 78 games played. He averaged 7.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, while recording a career best 57.3 True Shooting Percentage.
