Russell Westbrook scores 29, Thunder tie up series with Spurs
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook scored a team-high 29 points during a 98-97 Game 2 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, adding seven rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer.
This game had a wild finish with Dion Waiters elbowing Manu Ginobili on an inbound pass. Before that, Westbrook picked up buckets with relative ease as the Thunder piled up 21 fast break points (they had 12 in the 124-92 Game 1 loss). Westbrook didn't have to deal with Kawhi Leonard as much in Game 2 either, so that was huge for him. Spurs' coach Gregg Popovich will probably try to put Leonard on Westbrook more in Game 3 on Friday.
So far this postseason, Westbrook has averaged 24.7 points, 10.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.7 3-pointers per game on a 53.3 True Shooting Percentage. During the regular season, Westbrook earned the fifth-best nERD in the league at 14.7.
