Gordon Hayward scores 26 points as Jazz suffer key loss
Utah Jazz guard/forward Gordon Hayward scored 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting with six rebounds, four assists, one block and one 3-pointer in Monday's 101-92 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
This was a massive blow to Utah's playoff hopes. The Jazz now have to beat the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday and will also need the Houston Rockets to lose to the Sacramento Kings in order to clinch the No. 8 seed in the West. Hayward was just 1-of-9 from beyond the arc Monday, but he's poised to have a monster night versus the Lakers.
Hayward has been great this season with a nERD of 5.9, ranking him inside the top 30 among qualified players. He is averaging a career-high 19.8 points, and he is adding 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 3-pointers in 36.2 minutes per game. He owns a True Shooting Percentage of 56.0 percent this year.
