Luka Doncic finishes assist shy of triple-double, Mavericks fall short in Denver
Dallas Mavericks small forward Luka Doncic scored 24 points (10-of-23 field goals, 3-of-7 free throws) with 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, 1 3-pointer, and 3 turnovers in 35.1 minutes of a 100-99 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.
Doncic came up an assist short of a triple-double for the second time in the past three games. The magnificent rookie had a thunderous go-ahead cram on Paul Millsap to give Dallas a 1-point lead in the final seconds, but he missed the free throw and Nikola Jokic put the game away on the other end. Despite the outcome, it was an encouraging performance after Doncic was held to 12 points Tuesday on 5-of-18 shooting. The Mavericks host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday.
Doncic scored 53.7 FanDuel points in the loss. He's averaging 39.4 FanDuel points through 64 NBA games.
