Mavericks' J.J. Barea (Achilles) to undergo season-ending surgery
Dallas Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea will undergo season-ending surgery on Monday for a torn right Achilles tendon.
"It’s gut-wrenching for all of us," head coach Rick Carlisle said. "Its gut-wrenching for the team, for the coaches, for the fans, and I do think that he will be back." Barea will be 35 when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Maxi Kleber and Jalen Brunson figure to see the biggest bump in playing time moving forward.
Barea averaged 22.1 FanDuel points in 38 games this season, with 10.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.0 triples per contest.
