Nuggets' Nikola Jokic 'earned' starter role at Center
Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has "earned" the starting center position, according to head coach Mike Malone.
"I did not expect Nikola Jokic to be our starting center 14 games into the season. But he has earned it," Malone said. What a novel concept. Taking in empirical evidence and making adjustments accordingly. This is a very encouraging sign for Jokic's value on the season, while the arrow is pointing down for Joffrey Lauvergne and Jusuf Nurkic (knee surgery).
In five games, Jokic is averaging 9.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals in just 20 minutes as the starter. His 2.9 nERD is 51st in the league. He's currently averaging less than 17 minutes per contest.
