Yesterday's Perfect NBA DFS Lineups: Sunday 1/25/15
Yesterday's slate of games featured massive stat-lines and outstanding performances from both likely and unlikely sources. Kevin Durant, Ty Lawson, Tyreke Evans, Monta Ellis and John Wall were among the stars who put together huge lines and made it into yesterday's perfect lineups, but rather than go into detail about players who consistently make this list I want to focus on two under-the-radar players who put together monstrous performances yesterday -- D.J. Augustin and Hassan Whiteside.
With Brandon Jennings now done for the year with a torn Achilles, Augustin will be forced into a much larger role for the Pistons throughout the remainder of the season. Detroit's backup point guard has been one of the best second-string players in the entire NBA and is very comfortable playing big-time minutes. He proved that last night with his magnificent 35-point, 8-assist, 4-rebound performance against the Raptors. Augustin should continue to provide huge value as long as he remains the Pistons' starter and could very easily be featured in this column for several consecutive games until his price is properly adjusted across the industry.
While Augustin's value skyrocketed due to his insertion into the starting lineup, Whiteside did his damage despite coming off the bench yesterday. The Heat center amassed a historic triple-double, scoring 14 points with 13 rebounds and 12 blocks in less than 25 minutes of action. Although Whiteside has been one of my favorite targets over the past several weeks, he had a very low ownership-percentage yesterday as this was his first game back from an ankle injury and many grinders were unsure how the Heat would actually use him. Those who started Whiteside were rewarded with a massive line and incredible value at a very reasonable price.
With inexpensive players such as Augustin and Whiteside putting up so much value, yesterday's perfect lineups were all ridiculously high scoring. DraftKings' perfect lineup would have scored 406 last night, while FanDuel's would have put up a whopping 423 points. Although it is unlikely that scoring will be as prolific tonight as it was last night, a little extra advice certainly can't hurt. With that in mind, make sure to check our optimal lineups -- which will be updated periodically throughout the day -- to see who our algorithms recommend as the best plays tonight. Also, before you finalize your lineups, take some time to read our daily fantasy NBA primer around 6:00 PM EST for a deeper dive into a few of our favorite plays on the board.
