3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 4/10/18

With nothing to play for and a tough matchup against the Jazz, Kevin Durant's expensive salary is tough to swallow.

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Kevin Durant, SF, Golden State Warriors

FanDuel Price: $11,200

Even though the Golden State Warriors have come out and said they are not sitting any healthy players against the Utah Jazz, considering they are locked into the 2 seed, it's unlikely coach Steve Kerr will play his starters heavy minutes.

When you take that and a tough matchup against a desperate Jazz team into account, Kevin Durant should probably be avoided in DFS. With a price tag of $11,200, Durant's playing time might not be there for him to reach value. Our models project Durant for 42.4 FanDuel points in 31.2 minutes.

Jaylen Brown, SF, Boston Celtics

FanDuel Price: $5,400

The Boston Celtics have been very open about their self-imposed minutes restrictions on their players after they clinched the 2 seed in the East, and that should continue on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.

Much like the game above, the Wizards are fighting for playoff seeding and very much need to win this game, but the Celtics do not. Jaylen Brown is coming off a 28-minute outing on Sunday in which he scored 12 real-world points and 22.4 FanDuel points. He could see a similarly tapered workload Tuesday night.

Marcin Gortat, C, Washington Wizards

FanDuel Price: $4,300

Marcin Gortat is coming off a 39-minute game in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, and even after a full three days of rest, there is little reason for Washington to expose Gortat to heavy playing time again.

Even if Boston doesn't play their guys big minutes, they're still a solid defense, and they've allowed the fewest FanDuel points per game to centers over the last four weeks. We project Gortat for only 19.9 FanDuel points in just over 21 minutes.
