3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 3/20/18

Al-Farouq Aminu draws a difficult matchup against a Houston squad that has bottled up opposing power forwards. Which other players are in a tough spot?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Jrue Holiday, PG, New Orleans Pelicans

FanDuel Price: $9,000

There are several games with blowout potential on Tuesday night, and one of those is the New Orleans Pelicans playing host to a Dallas Mavericks team without four of their top guards -- including Dennis Smith. Normally that would make Jrue Holiday a good play, but with the Pelicans starting a stretch of three games in three days, they will want to put Dallas out of commission early tonight (as well as possibly limiting minutes in any scenario).

Dallas has also been solid against shooting guards this season, limiting them to 0.80 FanDuel points per minute. If this game gets out of hand, look for the Pelicans to preserve Holiday and their other starters on the front half of this busy stretch.

Dennis Schroder, PG, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Price: $6,200

Dennis Schroder is also in for a tough battle on Tuesday going up against the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. The Atlanta Hawks own a 96.25-point implied total, and that could be just the start of Schroder's problems.

The Jazz are holding point guards to 0.86 FanDuel points per minute, the 6th-best fantasy defense against point guards this year, and that makes Schroder a no-go in cash games. With the Jazz owning a league-best 98.6 defensive rating at home and the Hawks ranking 29th in road offensive rating, this one could get ugly for Schroder and company.

Al-Farouq Aminu, PF, Portland Trail Blazers

FanDuel Price: $5,800

Al-Farouq Aminu is coming off three straight good games, but he could also be in for some regression on Tuesday up against the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets are limiting power forwards to 0.86 FanDuel points per minute this season, and Aminu has struggled against P.J. Tucker in his career. In their 18 career matchups, Aminu is averaging just 8.9 points and 6.5 rebounds on 43.8% shooting from the floor.
