Matt Adams reportedly returning to Cardinals via deal with Nationals
The Washington Nationals are trading Matt Adams to the St. Louis Cardinals, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
Adams was drafted by the Cardinals in 2009 and remained with the organization until May of last season, when he was traded to the Atlanta Braves before walking in the winter, leading to the abbreviated stay in Washington. The impending free agent figures to be more valuable for the Cardinals than a Nationals club that appears to be giving up on their dwindling postseason chances.
Adams averaged 8.0 FanDuel points in 94 games for the Nationals, with a .257/.332/.510 slash, 18 dingers, and 48 RBI across 277 plate appearances.
