Chance Adams to make major league debut for Yankees on Saturday

The New York Yankees plan to call up starting pitcher Chance Adams to make his major league debut on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

What It Means:

The Yankees would probably prefer Adams get some more seasoning in the minors but their options are limited with J.A. Happ (illness) landing on the disabled list. This figures to only be a spot start for the right-hander, who turns 24 in a week.

Adams owns an underwhelming 4.50 ERA across 98 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season but he spun 7 1/3 scoreless innings in his last start and is striking out over a batter per inning.
