Shohei Ohtani resumes throwing, could pitch in games for Angels by September
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) could return to the rotation by September in a best-case scenario.
Ohtani played catch from 60 feet on Thursday, marking the first time he's thrown since June 6, as the dual-threat right-hander battles back from a sprained UCL in his right elbow. Tommy John Surgery still hasn't been ruled out, but if all goes well, Ohtani could be available to pitch in games for the Angels by September.
Ohtani went 4-1 in nine starts, while spinning a 3.10 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 61 strikeouts and 20 walks across 49 1/3 innings.
