Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez suffers 'serious damage' to ankle

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has "serious damage" to the ligaments in his right ankle, manager Alex Cora announced Sunday.

What It Means:

Rodriguez won't require surgery and the Red Sox are "optimistic" he will pitch again this season, but the 25-year-old left-hander will be in a walking boot for two weeks before being re-evaluated.

Rodriguez averaged 32.4 FanDuel points while going 11-3 across 19 starts in the first half of the year. He owns a 3.44 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 110 strikeouts and 32 walks through 104 2/3 innings.
