Andrelton Simmons (ankle) placed on the 10-day DL by the Angels
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrlton Simmons (ankle) was placed on the 10-day DL on Wednesday.
Simmons twisted his ankle on the dugout steps before Tuesday's game and re-aggravated the injury while turning a double play. While x-rays were negative, the shortstop will still miss the next 10 days with the injury. Kaleb Cowart was called up from Triple-A, in a corresponding move, and is in the lineup on Wednesday.
Simmons has batted .330 with 4 homers and 34 RBI in 244 plate appearances this season.
