Alex Reyes (elbow) will join Cardinals' rotation when ready to return
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Alex Reyes (elbow) will make a rehab start on Thursday before moving into the big league rotation on May 29 versus the Milwaukee Brewers.
Reyes underwent Tommy John Surgery following the 2016 season, and there was some thought he would be used out of the bullpen when ready to pitch again. Jon Gant will likely be bumped from the rotation with the Cards having to decide on what to do with Reyes when Carlos Martinez returns from injury.
Reyes pitched in 12 MLB games (5 starts) in 2016, posting a 1.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 2.67 FIP with 52 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched.
