Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Johnny Field is starting versus the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon.

Carlos Gomez was placed on the disabled list with a groin injury he suffered during Tuesday's win, so Field will take over in right field and bat ninth versus Royals right-hander Jason Hammel in Wednesday's series finale. He should see a boost in playing time for however long Gomez is sidelined.
