Giants place Johnny Cueto on the DL with elbow inflammation
San Francisco Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto has been placed on the 10-day DL with elbow inflammation, retroactive to Sunday.
This is Cueto's second trip to the DL this season with the last one coming earlier in April due to an ankle injury. The Giants are expected to announce the severity of the elbow injury and a recovery timetable later this week. Andrew Suarez was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move and will start on Tuesday.
Cueto has been brilliant this season, posting a 0.84 ERA, 0.69 WHIP with 26 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched so far this season.
