Padres' Christian Villanueva (hamstring) expected out until Friday
San Diego Padres third baseman Christian Villanueva (hamstring) is expected to miss the remainder of the series with the Colorado Rockies and is targeting a return to action on Friday.
Villanueva was a late scratch on Monday after feeling tightness in his left hamstring. With the weather a bit cold in Denver, manager Andy Green is playing it safe and sitting out the third baseman the final two games, giving Villanueva four days to rest before the Padres' return home for a three-game set with the New York Mets. Cory Spangenberg will see extra at-bats at third in Villanueva's place.
Villanueva has started hot, hitting .355 with a .512 wOBA and 7 homers through 72 plate appearances.
