Phillies will begin the season without a defined closer
Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler would not name a set closer to start the season.
When asked who will pitch the ninth inning, Kapler said "We're going to go to our dudes." Hector Neris is still the favorite for saves, but guys like Pat Neshek, Luis Garcia, Adam Morgan, and Edubray Ramos could factor in if Kapler is intent on playing matchups. How the Phillies manage their bullpen over the first week could be very telling.
Entering the season, numberFire projects Neris for a 3.32 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 27 saves over 68.3 innings.
