Ty Blach replaces Madison Bumgarner (hand) as Giants' starter for Opening Day
San Francisco Giants pitcher Ty Blach will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Opening Day, manager Bruce Bochy announced.
Blach will fill in for Madison Bumgarner, who is on the shelf for at least two months after fracturing his hand. The 27-year-old left-hander spun a 4.78 ERA while striking out just 73 batters (10.6 strikeout percentage) across 163 2/3 innings during his first extended taste of major league action last season. Now, he'll head to the mound opposite Clayton Kershaw on Opening Day.
numberFire's early models project Blach to score 24.2 FanDuel points on Opening Day. For the season, we have him pegged for a 4.47 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 12.2 strikeout percentage, with a 5-8 record across 114 2/3 innings.
