Cubs' Jason Hammel, Cardinals' John Lackey last just three innings in Game 4
Chicago Cubs starter Jason Hammel and St. Louis Cardinals starter John Lackey each failed to pitch into the fourth inning in Tuesday's Game 4 of the National League Division Series.
Lackey was staked to a 2-0 lead before taking the bump thanks to a Stephen Piscotty two-run dinger in the top of the first, but the Cubs plated four runs in the bottom of the second. Javier Baez blasted a three-run, opposite-field tater to fuel the Chicago rally.
Lackey allowed four hits and four runs while walking one and fanning five. Hammel gave up two runs on three hits and three walks with a pair of strikeouts. Justin Grimm took over for the Cubs while Adam Wainwright got the call in the bullpen for the second straight night for St. Louis.
