Athletics' Jharel Cotton diagnosed with strained UCL
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jharel Cotton has been diagnosed with a strained UCL and a strained flexor muscle.
What It Means:
Athletics manager Bob Melvin said the injury may require surgery, which would potentially sideline Cotton for the entire season. The right-hander turned 26 in January.
Cotton recorded a 5.58 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 18.6 strikeout percentage across 129 innings last season while going 9-10 in 24 starts.
