Twins release Anibal Sanchez

The Minnesota Twins have released veteran starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez.

What It Means:

The Twins signed Sanchez to a one-year $2.5 million deal last month, but the deal was not guaranteed. The move will make a roster spot available for Lance Lynn, and with Lynn now in the rotation, the Twins were able to move on from Sanchez.

Sanchez had a reasonable 4.16 SIERA, 21.6% strikeout rate, and 6.0% walk rate in 2017, but also allowed a poor 37.4% hard-hit rate. Across the last three seasons with the Tigers, he only put together a 5.67 ERA.
