Nick Ahmed expected to be Diamondbacks' starting shortstop
Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Nick Ahmed is expected to start the season as the club's starting shortstop.
Ahmed and Ketel Marte (at second base) seem to be locked in to be the starting middle infield with Chris Owings playing more of a super-utility role for the Diamondbacks. Ahmed started 41 games for Arizona in 2017 before fracturing his hand in late June.
Ahmed batted .251 with a .300 wOBA, 6 home runs, 24 runs scored, and 21 RBI in 178 plate appearances in 2017.
