Aaron Nola named the Phillies' 2018 Opening Day starter
The Philadelphia Phillies have officially named pitcher Aaron Nola as their 2018 Opening Day starting pitcher.
No real surprise here as the 24-year-old Nola is coming off a career-best season in 2017. While the Phillies are rumored to be interested in free agent Jake Arrieta, Nola remains the ace of their staff for the time being and the foreseeable future.
Nola finished 2017 with a 12-11 record, 3.54 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 184 strikeouts in 168 innings pitched (27 starts).
