Dodgers' Austin Barnes dealing with elbow discomfort
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher/second baseman Austin Barnes came into spring training with some discomfort in his right elbow, manager Dave Roberts shared on Thursday.
It doesn't sound like too much of a concern, as Roberts said Barnes would be able to catch and throw if the season started today, but the Dodgers are deciding to err on the side of caution and will limit him to DH duties for the first week of Cactus League play. Barnes is expected to split backstop duties with Yasmani Grandal in 2018.
Barnes averaged 7.3 FanDuel points in 102 games last season, with a .289/.408/.486 slash, 8 home runs, 35 runs scored, 38 RBI, and 4 steals across 262 plate appearances.
