Jim Johnson

Dodgers won't include Jim Johnson on division series roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers will not include relief pitcher Jim Johnson on their roster for the National League Division Series, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

What It Means:

The team has not officially released their roster yet, but Johnson has been sent home "out of respect," according to Plunkett.

Johnson made 23 appearances with the Dodgers after coming over from the Atlanta Braves prior to the trade deadline. He allowed 21 earned runs in 18 2/3 innings, though 8 of those runs came in one outing. His 3.87 xFIP paints a much more accurate and positive picture. Still, that xFIP only ranked 11th on the team out of the 13 pitchers who threw at least 10 relief innings. Johnson will look to rebound from consecutive down seasons in 2016.
